Hey all, its been a while since I have posted here.
I am working with Connect211 to build solutions for 211s, help seekers, governments, and other innovators, and I wanted to share an MIT licensed repo I made.
IMAGE → AI → HSDS: https://github.com/211-Connect/image-to-hsds
I was inspired by a flyer in the bathroom of a coffee shop which had a lot of valuable information for help seekers. I quickly built the demo you see on main which leverages GPT4o vision API to turn that image into valid HSDS. I hope this could be part of solutions in the future to get more high quality data into collaborative systems.
At Connect211 we are working with our partners on that data collaboration problem. I am architecting systems to facilitate trust in data exchange as well as enable user interfaces that help data collaborators get more useful outputs from data collaboration in the formats they find most appealing.
The set up is relatively painless if you would like to use the GPT endpoint on the main branch. I do have a branch I am working on which would leverage the brand new DeepSeek OCR model which is posting some really extremely positive benchmarks for performance and cost, however I am hampered by my Mac M2’s inability to run it. I’ll get my home Linux machine working again soon, and take another look, but I have been pretty busy.
I would love to invite you to reach out if you are interested in this or other AI applications to HSDS or other neighboring topics to our work here. I hope the repo proves educational and / or useful.
Let’s connect!
