Open Referral UK Steering Group: A New Chapter

How can we make it easier for people to discover and access vital community services? It all comes down to how we share information.

Open Referral UK (ORUK) has entered an exciting new phase, with iStandUK recently taking on the secretariat role this marks a clear focus on connecting the community and driving real-world adoption of service data standards.

The latest Steering Group meeting marked the first under iStandUK’s leadership and top of the agenda for this new chapter is strengthening the core standard itself, making it easier than ever to structure and share data. The ultimate goal is more connected systems, better service discovery and improved outcomes for our communities.

Thanks @Mevish-iStandUK The Steering Group was set up because we recognised that most benefit can be achieved from ORUK adoption if different parts of the public and voluntary sectors can reliably re-use one another’s data describing services.

To that end I hope we’ll see government departments delivering more data via ORUK-compliant APIs and taking data in the same structure from councils.

It would be good to get feedback here on which data would be most useful for councils to take from elsewhere rather than maintain themselves.
