Advancing Data Standards for Prevention: iStandUK’s Response to the New SAVVI and ORUK Pilots

Following the announcement from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Local Digital on the £1.1m investment to scale the SAVVI and Open Referral UK (ORUK) data standards across Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council, we have shared our own reflections on what this means for the sector.

At iStandUK, we have been championing standards‑based approaches for years and this moment represents a real step forward for how councils can identify vulnerability earlier, join up support and reduce crisis demand through consistent, structured, ethical use of data.

In our latest blog, we explore:
:sparkles: Why the alignment of SAVVI and ORUK matters
:sparkles: What these pilots will help us learn about real‑world adoption
:sparkles: How consistent service data and vulnerability indicators can transform prevention
:sparkles: The opportunity this creates for councils, suppliers and frontline teams

We are hugely excited to support this next phase bringing the two standards together under one home and helping to build a more interoperable, prevention‑focused future for local public services.

Thanks for sharing this @Mevish-iStandUK

I’m particularly enthusiastic about this work because it brings together services data for whole regions (10 local authorities in GMCA) and so should lead to one quality record for each service rather than multiple duplicates. We can then assess the impact of better discovery and targeting of services.
