Licence / license to be used for open source software

In the thread Technical Report on the ORUK Validator, @mrshll introduced his report Technical Report: ORUK Validator which includes a section entitled The license is very unusual for a software project.

I commented that I believed little thinking had gone into the licence used for the current validator of Open Referral UK feeds and that the UK team is likely to be receptive to requests to change that licence.

Can we take any views here on the most appropriate licence for this software and similar software developed for Open Referral in future. Matt posted the issue Consider relicensing the project #49 in the Github repository of TPXimpact, where the source code for the current validator is currently located.

Matt’s recommendation is for the BSD 3-clause licence: https://opensource.org/license/BSD-3-clause.

Do we have consensus on that such that I can make a request to the UK development team to adopt it?

seems like that has a compatible ‘share-alike’ style clause, so lgtm!
